Decorating Tips For Boys Rooms

A theme is a great way to decorate in a boy's room.  There are many excellent themes for boys' rooms and many of them will endure as your child grows.  Here are a few examples of some decorating themes that will turn your child's room into an exciting adventure:

Boys love bugs.  Ants, bees, frogs, and reptiles are just a few of the choices.  You can create a wonderland of creepy, crawly critters that may convince your child to leave the real critters outdoors.

If your child has a favorite animal, you can decorate the entire room with posters, stuffed animals, and stencils depicting your child's favorite type of animal or you could choose to use a combination of several types of animals.  Photos of your child with his pet are a nice addition as well.  Bedspreads, sheets, and pillows with animal prints are a must.

Paint the walls and ceiling to create a real-life play town complete with fire station, police department, and streets.  Rugs that look like racetracks and a large selection of toy cars and trucks will give the impression of a real, working city inside your child's room. 

A safari theme is always fun.  Animal print rugs and borders, butterfly nets and binoculars on the walls, and stuffed animals will give your child's room the feel of an African safari.  Stuffed animals and a drawing board for your child to create his own wildlife pictures will complete the look.

You may consider a room with mountain views and a rustic cabin.  Fishing, hiking, and camping can be incorporated with pictures and murals of the wilderness, complete with bears and deer.  Rustic furniture made of pine or logs would give the room the feel of a rustic cabin in the mountains.

Boys love racecars.  Colorful racecars and racetracks on the floor combined with borders and rugs printed with racing themes will turn any room into a professional venue.  Stop signs and lamps that resemble red, yellow, and green signal lights will complete this look.

Become an astronaut with an outer space theme.  A rocket ship bedspread and glowing stars painted on the ceilings will send your child on an intergalactic mission.

Sports themes always work well in boys' rooms.  Football, baseball, basketball, hockey, or a combination of many sports will delight any young boy.  Rugs shaped like balls and decorative borders are sure to please your little sports fan.
