Decorating girl's rooms does not have to be complicated or difficult.  Painting will be the easiest, least expensive decorating method and will give you the greatest impact.  Pick a versatile, pretty color and keep the trim ivory or white.  If you decide to use wallpaper, choose a versatile, neutral print.  Avoid anything too cute or intricate if you decide to use wallpaper.  Choose wallpaper that will allow your child to grow with the room.  You will not want to replace wallpaper every other year because you child has outgrown the pattern.

Search flea markets and garage sales for the perfect headboard.  Thrift stores are another wonderful option.  You can refinish or paint the headboard to match the décor of the room.  Avoid using special themes or designs.  You will want to choose furniture that will grow with your child and that is versatile.  It will be easier on your budget if you purchase one piece of furniture or one decoration at a time.  Artwork, pretty bed linens, rugs, and knick-knacks can be added gradually to create a beautiful room that your child will love.   You can add a toy chest, dresser, and mirror for a special touch.  These items can often be purchased used and painted to match the colors in the room.

Keep in mind that if the paint or wallpaper in the room is a neutral color, you can paint the furniture in bright vivid colors to make your child's room fun and unique.  Throw pillows in bold colors and bright, fun lamps will add to the charm of the room.  You can always repaint the furniture later as your child matures.  The addition of stars on the ceilings or walls will delight your child.  You can purchase stars and other shapes that stick directly on the surface and can be removed easily when you desire.

You can also decorate with mirror tiles that have a peel and stick backing.  You can add depth and create the illusion of more space when you place mirror tiles in a square shape on the wall and hang a curtain over the design just as if it were a real window.  Decorating your child's room does not need to be costly and time consuming.  Add a few new pieces here and there and use your imagination to create a special place that a girl will love and want to spend time in.
